After two evening Pelagics, time for a daytime session in better light - the crew and participants champing at the bit for an 11.00 start......
The ever present Gulls invariably bring in a
Bonxie or two despite drizzle and overcast skies.....
An
Arctic Skua too....
Always scarce on these trips, a
Balearic Shearwater!
The sun eventually shone to brighten up this Great Skua and sun-cream became mandatory - or fry?!
Sooty Shearwater through.....
We had chased this trawler 'Azur' for most of the morning and reaped a couple of rewards....
firstly
Great Shearwater wing clipped as it shot by too close!!
And then, a Scilly Pelagic first for me, peeking through the waves - adult
Sabines Gull :-)
Eventually taking off.....
And from the 'wrong' side of the boat grabbing this one close flyby!
And then gone.....
No shortage once again of
Storm Petrels throughout the trip, the odd
Manxie and even a
Greenfinch which briefly took some 'ship assistance' on the cabin roof!
Ocean Sunfish,
Blue Shark and a few Cetaceans including
Risso's Dolphins as well as Common Dolphins - a brief glimpse of a
Minke Whale sighting near to St Mary's completed an excellent day..... followed by fillet steak at Mr. B's :-) :-)
