I'd spent the previous afternoon and evening (returning from South Wales) failing miserably to find anything of interest locally! No Ring Ouzels on a wet, wild and very windy Titterstone Clee. No Little Gull at Trench Pool or Priorslee and nothing of note at Venus Pool.
Today was spent at Deckerhill near Shifnal, prospecting for Mealy Redpolls at a lovely private site. It was
Lesser Redpoll only in that respect, plus plenty of woodland birds,
Yellowhammers by the dozen and my first B
lackcap of the year! After moving on, a single
Corn Bunting just past the village of Beckbury was another good un but slightly disappointing as it didn't hang around and where were the rest??
I called in at Chelmarsh and with hopes of a Tern, had an even better result with an
Osprey flying fairly high over, never quite looking as if it would stop :-(
Here's a distant record shot.....
A wtf moment followed on leaving Dinney Farm with
Ring-necked Parakeet in fligh tover the fields, cracking views and I wonder where it's spending the day??
