Titterstone Clee - Wheatears

Ring Ouzels are in the Country but there were none about on Titterstone Clee this morning! I don't know when Wheatears have been mnore obliging though: at least 6 in the Quarry and c15 on the screes near the car park. Males were putting on a formidable display to 'would be' competitors for territory or females.....

Feeding up....

Surveying their little Empire!

Then of course - trying to win over this little lady?

Males posing.......

Then catching a creepy crawlie or two.....

Some serious defence manouevres!

Tail fanning is one way of expressing agression and where territory is concerned - having got it, it will take quite a fight to give it up.....
