The Mere was part frozen with good numbers of ducks and Geese on the open water over near the far bank. Plenty of Goosander, Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler and Goldeneye. Wood Lane was completely frozen over and almost birdless, where's a Jack Snipe (or even that Woodcock that had turned up in the week) when you need one! There was a small 'hole' of open water near the boardwalk at Colemere.....
I nearly ignored the small numbers of Goldeneye diving relatively near the shore, glad I didn't - concentrating on a couple of females........
Trying to a 'diving' shot at the right moment or angle is not easy but at least gave me something to do (and they do a lot of diving!)
Good light and always attractive birds.....
But all good things have to come to an end!
