Scotland day 3 - hit and miss

With rain forecast for much of the day, it was a lit of 'local' birding and maybe a few images of common birds? I don't think there was a particular 'high' - the low was following up a lead, gleaned whilst watching a Crested Tit flitting about near the car part at Loch Mallachie.......

"If you drive up the road, turn left and keep going until you see the group of people with lenses........ they are watching a  Caper - displaying within 15m of the road"......  WHAT!!!

I needn't have rushed :-( Yeah, the low was, on arrival..... it had skulked off 5 mins earlier!

Just a single Black-throated Diver seen distantly at Lochindorb, presumably the female is sitting?

Plenty of Common Gulls in the area too.

The only photogenic birds of the day were the usual waders here......

Common Sandpiper....

And Redshank.....

This one was TOO close!  Never mind, a chance for some close up portraits :-)

Calling too......

Over on moorland near Nethybridge, a couple of Red Grouse males were having a bit of a spat.

Giving the opportunity for a flight shot!
