Shropshire - nothing of note....

A rare day of late - nice weather and I was free to 'enjoy' a day of local birding! First call (and the only camera worthy stop) was Venus Pool. Running high still - a male Pintail, Shelduck, few Pochard and Tufties but not much else on the water. There were three male and one female Bullfinch however in the hedge on the way down to the hide. They were preoccupied with stripping just about every emerging bud from the branches......

Brambling were still active in the feeder station but no Siskin seen, just the usual suspects - sitting pretty....

It was downhill all the way then, despite meeting up with the ususally 'inspirational' Andy L. Priorslee held a few hundred gulls including at least 300 large Gulls but nothing of real note. Granville tip had literally thousands of large Gulls but again, nothing of note.

To cut a long story short, Colemere had 21 Goldeneye - nothing else of note, Wood Lane - nothing and the Mere roost was better than the previous weekend but apart from an amusing 'ring necked' 1st Winter Common Gull, yes you've guessed it......
