Wood Lane - Meds again

More of the same, I'm afraid - here's the juveniles looking ready for food!

And here comes one of the adults....

Playing hard to get - well would you willingly throw up your last meal?....

Pleeeeeease!

Crikey, fish, meat and goodness knows what down there!

Up she comes (don't look too closely!)

Now then, it can't be very pleasant having gastric juices corroding the bill. Every regurgitation is followed by a quick rinse!

Eventually flying off! Something is bugging me about this particular Gull, it has a really dull orange-brown bill rather than the bright red seen in previous posts by Paul Burgess on the SOS site. I just wondered if this was a third adult (which has been reported on occasions) helping out with the feeding?

Here's the other adult!

Freshening up.....

Here's the two of them together...

And two of the juvs together!

Aggression comes second nature to Meds - here's one committing GBBHGH!

But it doesn't always go their way when there's a territorial Coot involved!

Peace and quiet reigns - for a moment anyway!

Wood Lane - Med Gulls

Given my  previous posts centred around Med Gulls on many previous occasions, it's no surprise that this visit was long overdue (basically waiting until they had fledged!)

Shropshire's first breeding record and quite a few images to record the state of family play! Here's one of the parents - how's that for a good looking Gull!

Of course, with parenthood comes responsibility - and three extra mouths to feed!

They were gagging for it - food that is - and you would probably be gagging with two much close up of regurgitated stomach contents, complete with, sticky slimy gastric juices :-)

Yes the thought of three bill delving into the adult's inspired a bit of a walkabout!

One at a time please!

Then off for more....

I think this is my favourite 'family portratit' :-)

Two of the juveniles seem inseparable.

See what I mean....

And just to prove they can fly!

One last begging / delivering  sequence.

The airspace is getting pretty crowded!

I will be back........

Whixall Moss - White faced Darter etc

I did say I wasn't going to do any more insect photography this year but with just one distant Hobby to show for a long walk around the Moss, I couldn't  resist a peek at some of the pools?

Almost immediately, a male White-faced Darter in view! With no macro lens, all these images were taken with the 500mm lens - quite a versatile piece of kit!!

Always nice when resting amongst an attractive backdrop!

When compared to a 'stick'.!

Quite a bit of competition for ownership of the stick!! The Four-spotted Chaser led the Darter a merry dance!

Meanwhile, down in the gloopy mud and slime, Azure Damselflies were busy....

Mating and laying eggs  :-)

I've got all the angles covered and with a talk coming up for the local RSPB group (Shirehall, Shrewsbury on Nov 21st) Some of these images may well make an appearance there?
