A few Common Gulls have been dropping in at Venus Pool just lately... I took pics of this 1cy (late) gull on the 11th Nov
Venus Pool - Cattle Egret take 2
I thought I'd use some posing and action in this post. The Wigeon seemed to be wherever the Venus Pool Cattle Egret was walking!

Venus Pool - Redshank
A hat trick of passage waders over three days at Venus Pool was completed this afternoon when a Redshank flew in mid afternoon!
Interesting patterns in the water...
It was really mobile thanks to the Lapwings but occasionally took a rest!

Venus Pool - Dunlin
A late Dunlin at VP although they have turned up there during every month of the year. They look drab and tricky in Winter plumage but the structure us still the same...
Feeding like crazy, they had to avoid being bounced!
Finally the Lapwings weren't looking...
Always distant but goes with the territory!
This is one wader which doesn't normally let you down!

Venus Pool - Black tailed Godwit
Black-tailed Godwits have been hard to come by at VP this year. The April 7th bird was a stunning summer plumage bird whilst today's was a drab grey winter plumage job.
Attracting a crowd however...

Venus Pool - Great White Egret washing
It's becoming difficult to find original images of Great White Egret but I can't remember seeing one have a wash?
It started off ever so gently...
Then breaking into a run...
The background light changed dramatically with the sun dropping.
