Scilly day 14 - St Agnes - Red-flanked Bluetail

Despite having had great views of the Red-flanked Bluetail recently, I sensed there could be a better showing with less of a crowd present. How right I was today, it took quite a while for the bird to settle down with the plastic sheeting being removed from the field but once the activity had died down, the bird began to show well....

Picking up insects and invertebrates.....

Eventually in full sun!

A wingflap revealing a gorgeous blue rump - not just about the tail :-)

Then, perched up really close, waiting and watching.....

I think I stopped breathing at this point!

The more flattering pose? Blue tail on show!

And the two favourites, easily picked out at the time on the camera back.....

An amazing session with an amazing bird!
