Scilly day 9 - Tresco birding

I keep a trip list and the first day spent on Tresco is guaranteed to add a few birds normally 'difficult' on St Marys.  16 new species were added on the day including a flyover Little Bunting before we had even got off the boat, courtesy of Dick Filby.

Firecrest had been seen most days and we must have seen at least six during the day with the Borough Farm area performing. I only had the small 100-400mm lens with me but it probably helped keeping up with these little guys darting around!

Crikey, if they were bigger, you would run a mile - the epitomy of Mr Angry with that scowling face!

Lots of trip ticks on the Great Pool with the two Pink-footed Geese still present. The duck list grew with Gadwall, Common Teal, Wigeon, Pintail and the juv. Garganey....

Mute Swan (8), Little Grebe, Redshank, Sand Martin and surprise bird of the day was this Osprey which we thought we had missed but it turned up high in front of the hide!

A Lapwing over New Grimsby quay was a Scilly MEGA and finally connected with the Red-breasted Merganser on the boat back! A pretty productive day's birding!
