Twite have always been a bit of a bogey 'picture or two' bird for me, I've had one or two flyovers, flyoffs from a puddle in Norfolk all before I've had chance to lock focus on them! All that was to change right now and if I was having a good day, even better for Yvonne, she was about to encounter lifer number three of the day !
We bumped into a couple of very friendly locals on the beach at Craigside, Llandudno and were immediately onto the four Twite!
Feeding above the tideline, amongst the shingle / dry grass.....
they were using a hand rail as a look out / launching post.....
They were all males, showing off the very striking pink rumps at times!
Difficult to pick 'favourites' here but (coming from Shropshire) not every day you get a chance to view Twite at close range, I have to be pleased with these....
The nearby cliffs of the Little Orme provided more year ticks as well with good numbers of Fulmar, Guillemot plus a Shag over / on the water!
