Whixall Moss - Shorties!

Don't you just wish you were in one of those Counties where Short-eared Owls perch and pose or fly past your lens pleading, take me take me?

In Shropshire, just getting sight of one is a big big plus and two were in view at Whixall Moss today! The only individual vaguely within range was a pale individual with damaged left primary - quite distinctive!

Shropshire Shorties are camera shy however and will not come within 200m of a lens. So for now, atmospheric habitat shots is all you're gonna get!

Photographing birds in flight at distance like this is not 'easy'. The auto focus will always lock onto the background! So, manual focus is essential - and a critical eye though the viewfinder......

I'm still working on it!
