Norfolk Day 5

My final day and I chose to return to Titchwell, teaming up Deano again.... A couple of Arctic Skuas were giving the Terns a hard time!

Grounded!

The day was all about wader action though, starting with Common Redshank....

Then getting up close and personal with the source of nutrition!

A tiny crab for this Turnstone.....

After being initially mussel bound.....

The Knot turned their attention to the various invertebrates lurking near the surface of the freshly uncovered sand....

Sanderling followed suit!

Cruising just offshore was this juv Red-throated Diver....

The walk back along the sea wall finally gave an opportunity to capture some Beardie action! Starting with the females.....

Then a dapper male......

Don't they make a lovely couple?

Perhaps the most captivating piece of action of the day was when this Grey Seal surfaced just offshore. Cuddly and sweet? I think not!

A Plaice was about to be lunch and methodically skinned and eaten......

A final wrestle to tear the last morsel of flesh free....

I've spared you some of the more gory action :-)

Norfolk Day 4

Day 4 was spent almost entirely at Titchwell with hopes of Bearded Tit...... sadly dashed again! Eventually I got to the beach and with the tide just starting to drop bumped into Deano Eades!! A long overwaited encounter and we had a pretty good day with a good cast of waders on display and generally put the bird photography world to rights :-)

A reflex few images were grabbed as an Arctic Skua came out of nowhere - blasting past within 50m of the beach!

The mussel beds eventually got exposed and one of the smartest (and equally elusive) birds on show was this Summer plumaged Grey Plover.....

Here they come!

Plenty of Knot probing in the sand

Brent Geese - 1..... 2..... 3.......

Turnstone, as ever obliging....

Redshank gliding in and sticking!

Bar-tailed Godwits - stepping out.....

Interesting comparison shot with Blackwit!
