Venus Pool - Common Sandpiper

I couldn't believe my luck when one of the two Common Sands present decided to catch flies in front of the main hide! A golden opportunity.... Not enough light to freeze a male kestrel hovering nearby, but I kinda like the motion blur! A welcome male Whinchat was so far away (excuses, excuses...)

Venus Pool - Blackwit and locals

A stunning Black tailed Godwit in summer plumage was showing well again on the North Marsh. Good light enabled me to grab a few other portraits of some of the 'usual suspects'......

Venus Pool - Snipe in deep water

Snipe blend in very well to the margin vegetation but occasionally venture out (and this one went for a swim!) Teal displaying and Wren singing - Spring is here.

Venus Pool - Ducks etc and a Redshank drops in

Ducks were posing today, Tufties and Teal. A Little Grebe quite active but the Mute Swans were crashed out. Chose the right moment to call into the Memorial hide as a Redshank dropped in!!

Farnham - Pacific Diver twitch

A twitch 'up North' with Barnsie, a cracking still frosty morning with quite a dawn gallery assembled at first light.... A bonus American Robin was nearby (no pics) luckily we managed to see it on arrival, it then disappeared from view into a garden for the rest of that day!

Llanfairfechan - Windy Wales and Mergansers

A local SOS group trip to Wales was dominated by gales (Brrrr) but at least the rain kept off. Llanfairfechan and Conwy were the destination. Bird of the day was Red breasted Merganser with some dapper windswept males on view. Conwy held more of the same but nothing close enough for photography.....
